Tibetan Rug Collection

At Tufenkian, each step in creating one of our Tibetan rugs is done by human hands. Beginning with the hand shearing of the Tibetan highland wool, then the carding, spinning and dying of the wool into rich colors. The wool is then transformed into rugs by Master Weavers. Handcrafted with the finest of materials, our rugs are a timeless fixture in any home.

Tibetan Rug Collections:

Traditional - Our traditional collection of carpets represent timeless Middle Eastern themes embodied with a new vitality. The classical elements of the rugs are taken from periodical pieces, then abstracted, re-scaled and re-combined to evolve into rugs that are fresh yet grounded.

Modern - A definition of modern design is to express the absolute of a feeling, thought or vision in a simplistic yet stimulating way. At Tufenkian, we use color, shape and space to create visual and textural effects in our Modern Rug Collection to engage the imagination.

Arts & Crafts - The arts and craft movement of the late 19th century is the inspiration for this rug collection. Representing the work of a contemporary design master and his craftsment, our Arts & Crafts collection is a deserving tribute to the movement.

These are only three of our Tibetan Rug collections. We also have the Primitive Chic, a collection bringing together the art of Tibetan rug weaving and modern home decor. The Lama Solid Color series, a handmade alternative to sisal and broadloom rugs. Also included in our Tibetan Rug Collection are two series by designers Barbara Barry and Clodagh.
